LIÉ READS
Step inside our team’s reading lists. From current favorites to upcoming titles, and the quiet rituals that make reading an essential part of their daily rhythm.
What are you currently reading, and what makes it special to you?
Emma:
Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson.
It explores personality types and communication, and feels especially meaningful as it was a gift from a close friend before I moved abroad. Reading it while settling into a new country has made it feel very timely.
Cecilie:
Open by Andre Agassi.
I finally picked it up after having it on my list for years, and its honesty and insight into the mind of a professional athlete make it a compelling read.
Ida:
The Bell Jar (Glasklokken) by Sylvia Plath.
Its emotional honesty and exploration of identity, pressure, and mental health feel deeply relatable, even decades after it was written. Reading a borrowed copy from a friend adds an intimate layer to the experience.
What’s next on your reading list?
Emma:
I’ve been browsing beautiful bookstores in Barcelona, and one book I’m tempted by is Twenty Something by Ron Lim, which caught my eye at Llibreria Terranova.
Cecilie:
I’m in an autobiography phase and plan to read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain, followed by Glossy by Marisa Meltzer.
Ida:
At the top of my list is The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, along with books by Tove Ditlevsen and Hannah Kent, often discovered through friends’ bookshelves and museum bookshops.
Is there a moment, place, or ritual that makes reading feel especially meaningful?
Emma:
Reading feels most meaningful on holidays, when there’s time to slow down, enjoy the sun, and fully relax. In those moments, it feels like self-care.
Cecilie:
I tend to read most when I’m away, but I love reading before bed and dream of spending more time reading outdoors on park benches.
Ida:
Reading fits best into the in-between moments of the day. Carrying a book with me allows reading to happen anywhere, especially when the book connects to thoughts I’m already exploring.
