Birthday interview with Cecilie and Amalie Moosgaard – Chapter 3
Year three marked a defining moment for LIÉ STUDIO. Opening our first store in Copenhagen gave us a physical home - a place where the brand could be experienced in a tangible, personal way. It was also the year we introduced our leather category, a project years in the making that reflected our expanding design universe. Alongside an evolving team and travels across Japan, Korea, and the US, this year felt like the moment LIÉ truly came into its own - established and confident.
In this third part of our anniversary interview series, we revisit the third year - a period of growth, exploration, and defining milestones that shaped LIÉ STUDIO.
Q: In what way was year three a turning point for the brand?
Amalie:
Opening our first store in Copenhagen was a major milestone; it gave us a physical home and a space where people could experience the brand in a more intimate and tangible way.
We also expanded our assortment with leather goods, which had been in development for over two years. Bringing that category to life required a lot of patience from us, but we were determined to get it right. Finally launching it felt like a significant step in maturing our universe. On top of that, the year was filled with travel as we focused heavily on market expansion. It was intense and demanding, but also incredibly meaningful.
Cecilie:
It was the year when things began to feel truly established. The new leather category really resonated, which was incredibly rewarding for us - especially as it had been so long in the making.
Q: Which campaign or project from year three do you love the most — and why?
Amalie:
I must say, the store was an incredible project to work on together with the team and architect Julius Nielsen. We had a few bumps along the way, but our vision for the space truly came to life - and even to this day, there’s nothing I would change about it. I love the atmosphere so much!
Cecilie:
Yes! I agree - the store was a massive milestone in our journey. We had dreamed of a physical space where we could truly express the world of LIÉ and invite our customers in to explore. It’s still, to this day, one of the best decisions we’ve ever made, and it’s been absolutely wonderful to welcome visitors and customers from around the world to our little store in Copenhagen.
